Class details

Open Studio is a self-directed studio hire session, available exclusively to existing ABE Ceramics students who have completed at least one six-week courses at our studio. It’s designed as a way to continue your practice outside of structured classes, in a familiar and supportive studio environment. ✨ Open Studio is currently available on Saturdays, 10:00am – 3:00pm, unless a private event is scheduled. If this occurs, an alternative session will be offered. Please note that Open Studio sessions are not teaching sessions. The studio may be supervised, however staff will usually be working on their own projects and are not available for instruction. Open Studio is only offered during times when there are no classes are running. What’s included • Use of pottery wheels • Access to shared studio tools, bats and slump moulds • Allocated shelf space for works in progress • Access to firing services Clay, glazes and firing services are charged separately. You are also welcome to get your pieces fired elsewhere (please refer to our studio price list below). Bookings & guidelines • Bookings are essential, as spaces are limited to 7 students per session. • Open Studio is fully self-directed and no teaching is provided. • Students who wish to bring their own clay or glazes must have them approved prior to use to ensure compatibility with studio reclaim and kiln firing temperatures. • All work must be clearly labelled. • All work must be collected within 2 weeks of completion of firing, after which they will be dealt with at our own discretion. • Participants are responsible for cleaning their workspace after use. This includes wiping down wheels and benches, returning tools to their designated places, and vacuuming or mopping the floor if required.
